Here's my latest work for prints in preparation for Anime Expo 2013. Fan art of Gwendolyn, Velvet, and Mercedes from right to left. This PS2 video game by Vanillaware and Atlus is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. *xasillisax introduced me to it years ago, and my love for its character design and colors has only grown.
My original idea was to play with the silhouette of Gwendolyn's face and make a repetitive shape that turned into both of the other girls' faces. They are each royal fighters that have to deal with a lot of hardship concerning their family and friends, so to me they are facets of one soul. I didn't intend for the art to simulate a rainbow, but it ended up working. I don't feel 100% done with this, so they will probably be an update in the future.
This is really gorgeous I like how each other them has a slightly different expression.
Holy King Valentine! I love this art so much *Q*
KYAA! thank you so much! Would you perhaps like to buy a small print of it?
I'd love to have a nice big poster of it, but I don't know if I could afford that <xD
I only have 6.5 inch by 8.75 inch pretty silver prints at the moment for $5 (shipping included) but I could special order a poster or banner. What is your price range?
This is absolutely beautiful, and a very interesting idea!
Beautiful work and nice use of parallel composition. I love how you not only composed Gwendolyn, Velvet, and Mercedes with the same head tilt but also gave them unique expressions: one of open-eyed resolve, demure melancholy, wistful innocence respectively. At least that's how I interpret it anyways.
Please pardon me for not replying right away; I just wanted to enjoy such a lovely comment in my inbox for a bit longer! You expressed and interpreted the work in words so much better than I could have myself! Thank you so much.
This is very gorgeous. I find it's hard to draw this pose and you did it very well. The colors are beautiful together, I love that you picked these colors. The only thing I would say could use a bit of work is the eye on the second girl. I can't tell if its the eyelid or the nose that makes her features look large I wish I could point out exactly what it is that makes it a bit funny but overall I would say you did a fantastic job, its an amazing piece, keep up the good work.
Thank you so much, Gwen-reckham! I really appreciate your feedback. I have been trying to figure out what is wrong about Velvet's face proportions and the next time I update this, I will try to have them look right. I think maybe her eyeball is too big..?
